The United States women’s national team started its 2026 season with a commanding 6–0 friendly win over Paraguay at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The match served as an early benchmark for coach Emma Hayes’ evolving squad and highlighted the blend of returning stars and emerging attackers competing for roles ahead of upcoming tournaments.

Reilyn Turner, making her first international appearance and first start, opened the scoring just before halftime. The goal settled a first half in which the U.S. controlled possession and territory, repeatedly forcing Paraguay to defend deep while searching for transitions that never fully materialized.

The second half became a showcase of finishing and depth. Ally Sentnor scored twice as the U.S. increased tempo and created chances from wide areas and central combinations. Trinity Rodman, returning from injury, captained the team and added a goal of her own before coming off, offering an encouraging sign about her fitness and form.

Additional scoring came through Emma Sears and an own goal by Paraguay, widening the margin as the U.S. continued to press and recycle attacks. Stat lines reflected the one-sided flow, with the Americans producing far more attempts on goal and limiting Paraguay’s opportunities to advance the ball into dangerous areas.

The game also included tributes connected to Christen Press, who retired in 2025. While the current roster is being rebuilt around new contributors, the performance suggested the team’s attacking pipeline remains strong, with multiple players able to change a match.

The U.S. will continue its early-year slate with more friendlies as it builds toward major competitions, using matches like this to evaluate new combinations, leadership roles, and the next wave of scorers.
